Mel Congerton, Liza Harvey and Rod Henderson at the Awards dinner

This year the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) was our major business excellence awards sponsor. Gold sponsors City of Swan, Australia-International Institute Workplace Training, Westpac Bank, Eastern Reporter Community news, Malaga Print & Copy, Protector Fire Services and the Good Guys Malaga have all joined us to showcase our best awards to date.

I would like to especially thank Liza Harvey MP for Scarborough, parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Commerce and Small Business for attending as our special guest and presenting the overall winner prize to Intework Incorporated.

Thanks to our judges, past president of the MDBA Jacqui Brown from Lynn and Brown Lawyers, Peter Walker from Polytechnic West and Mr Colin Harrison for undertaking the tough job of determining the winners.

Most importantly, thank you to all that nominated. Completing an application for awards is a great opportunity for a business to think and look at how they are traveling, what they have achieved and where you want to go in the year ahead.

Your committee works hard to bring events together. Frank Stachowicz (Dove Insurance Brokers) as chairman of the awards subcommittee assisted by Jill Carson (Malaga Internet Services) and Felicity Orr (Malaga Print & Copy) did an outstanding job working with the awards coordinator Dee de Vos. Thank you Dee for your efforts and dedication towards making the awards such a success.

We continue to work on showcasing Malaga. The Quit Targa West rally is being planned for Sunday 19 August. The MDBA is planning to have a corporate tent on Malaga Drive so please let us know if you want to come along. There will be opportunities for your company to promote business and to host your special guests. By now most businesses should be aware of planned route.
