The Dungeon Youth Centre has been operating for a little over
ten years in Ballajura, originally as a place for young people
to hang out on a Friday night to becoming what it is today, a professional
Youth Service staffed by two full time qualified youth workers
and three casual staff and currently managed by the Ballajura Youth
and Community Venture Inc. The Dungeon Youth Centre offers recreational
programs and provides a professional support service to young people
aged 12 to 17 who reside, recreate and are educated in Ballajura
and surrounding areas.
The Dungeon Youth Centre have received ongoing funding from the
City of Swan and the Department for Child Protection to continue
providing services the Ballajura community. The Dungeon has also
received funding from the Office of Multicultural Interests, the
Department for Communities and the City of Swan through the Swan
Matching Grants program which provided us with opportunities to
run many successful programs for young people.
The Dungeon are delivering a Law Education program to year 10
Access classes, Sexual Health Education to year 11 Access classes
and Alcohol and Other Drugs education programs to year 12 Access
classes. Similar pgrams are also delivered based at the centre.

Ballajura Community College

Ballajura Community College is the largest independent government
school in Western Australia. The College is a vibrant and robust
learning community that is a highly sought after option for secondary
schooling in the north-east corridor of the Perth metropolitan
area. Its very high retention rate and outstanding levels of student

Ballajura Community College services the educational needs of
almost 2,000 students from Years 7 to 12 (1,200 families) across
many cultural groups with 140 teaching and 72 non teaching staff.
Ballajura Community College is a highly regarded educational institution
which has achieved a 100 per cent graduation rate for five consecutive
years seeing in excess of 200 students a year achieve this milestone
(largest cohorts of any West Australian School).
The College is comprised of two campuses delivering comprehensive
educational programs in two distinct phases. A very effective middle
schooling philosophy has been developed in the College where the
Years 7-9 students work in Homerooms within a team structure. The
curriculum is delivered in a holistic, integrated fashion with
the support of specialist Arts, Health & Physical Education,
Language and Technology and Enterprise teachers available to work
with students.
The Senior School offers Year 10-12 students a study program as
part of a Senior Campus with an adult ethos and a student centred
approach to learning. Students work with specialist teachers. Senior
School students are able to choose from one of the largest Curriculum
Council course offerings in a Western Australian school context.
The College has become a significant feature of the suburb of
Ballajura, with the campus of the College (BCC) sited on the land
which is bordered by Illawarra Crescent to the North, Cassowary
Drive to the South and Pelican Parade to the East. The College
prides itself on the contribution it makes to its local community
through the provision of an excellent learning and teaching environment
for young people in the area.
